Introduction

Crackle is an experimental Jazz/Electronic duo formed in south London in 2008. The band consists of Nick Doyne-Ditmas, (bass, cornet, electronics), and Frank Byng, (drums, electronics). They released their album Heavy Water through Slowfoot Records in 2008. They were offered a tour with veteran Pop/Rock musician Barry Adamson. Recently they have enlisted Ben Cowan on Keyboards as a 3rd member of the project.

Nick Doyne-Ditmas [bass, cornet, electronics] - Since working with acclaimed avant-jazzers Pinski Zoo in the mid 80's, has been a mainstay of the south London music scene for many years, collaborating many times with This Heat/ Camberwell Now drummer Charles Hayward (My Secret Alphabet + Where is Chaos Now on Sub Rosa) and with artists/bands as diverse as H2C7, Charles Stuart, Skip Macdonald, Vibration Black Finger and K-Scope. Ongoing member of Monkey Puzzle Trio [featuring Charles Hayward and Viv Corringham] who have recently released their second album 'The Pattern Familiar' on Slowfoot.

Frank Byng [drums, electronics] - Currently heading up afro-kraut collective Snorkel as well as performing with This Is Not This Heat, Grumbling Fur, Prescott, Robert Logan and Daniel O'Sullivan. He has previously worked in various capacities - drummer, percussionist, producer, composer, engineer - with the likes of Barry Adamson, Dan Hayward, The Band Of Holy Joy, Ayub Ogada, Spectre, Mannasseh, 1 Giant Leap, Tony Allen, Grace Jones, Pere Ubu, Bass Clef and many others.

Ben Cowen [keyboards, electronics] - Recent addition to the band is who is/was one half of electronic duo 7-Hurtz, who released two albums on Trevor Jackson's Output label in the 90's, and also currently plays with Snorkel, Skye and Ross [Morcheeba], Woven Entity, The Woodentops, Robert Logan and Vibration Black Finger.
